When they try to be something they aren’t. If  you haven’t heard the news, Chapstick tried its hand at a new “socially cool” ad campaign that totally backfired. You can read about it here.

Basically, Chapstick asked its customers to chime in on their new ad campaign featuring this bizarre picture of a girl looking for something behind her couch. When people naturally responded with less than positive comments, Chapstick started deleting the posts. Now, we may not be rocket scientists, but we do know that deleting customer comments is ridiculously stupid.
